Beginning the Accreditation Process

Thank you for your interest in becoming RCO/RCC Accredited.

Please note ALL of the following information before beginning your application for accreditation;

The Recovery Community Organization (RCO) Certification is separate and apart from Recovery Residences (RR) certification.
Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) do NOT have a Brick & Mortar site
Recovery Community Centers (RCC) DO have a Brick & Mortar site
You must be prepared to submit a payment along with your application. ($500 one time application and processing fee) Annual fee thereafter is $300.
You will be creating and monitoring an online profile through a website called Certemy.
There is no need to have stand alone RCO responses to the checklist below when submitting documentation. Checklist items can be met on behalf of your parent recovery organization.

Once your Application is received and approved, a Welcome Letter will appear in your Certemy profile detailing your next steps regarding documentation and site review. To be more prepared for what is expected, the UARCO Checklist is available below.

The uarco Standards

The United Alliance for Recovery Community Organizations Standards (UARCO) was created in 2021. The National Alliance for Recovery Residences Standards (NARR) provided the model of standards and certification that UARCO has utilized for recovery community organizations (RCOs).

Recovery community organizations are independent organizations that are led and governed by representatives of their local recovery community. They provide a physical space for recovery support services, recovery-focused activities, and recovery-focused community education and outreach. This is a safe and healthy environment to encourage peer support for people suffering from a substance use disorder.

The UARCO Standards have five core principles that are tailored to meet the social model of recovery while encompassing a recovery community organization’s governance, infrastructure, operations, community engagement, and outcomes.

UARCO Certification provides several benefits for a recovery community organization. The Standards and certification provide the opportunity for consistency of RCOs across the state. This will help RCOs achieve a higher level of operations, peer support, and staff development based around the UARCO Standards.
